The Library and CIT are in the process of implementing the Digital Library at SMU. From now until the end of Term 1, 2008-2009, we will be building our internal systems and creating enhanced and new tools for users' information discovery. We will also be gathering information and input for the pilot of our Institutional Repository.
Regretfully, as part of this process, there will be planned disruptions in normal service.
- ACQUISITIONS:
Mid-April to end May – Ordering of teaching materials for Term 1
End May to early September – Only rush orders of teaching materials
(Materials ordered may not arrive before the start of Term 1)
- PUBLIC SERVICES
End Term 3-A to start of Term 1, 2008– possible reduction of opening hours and/or professional staffing
- ILL/DDS
June through September – longer turn-around time for ILL/DDS
Affected groups will receive more detailed notification about these disruptions and short-term options and everyone will receive updates on our progress.
We may also be asking you to be part of beta tests for our new public interfaces or to provide input into creating the repository and its knowledge tools.
