e-Resources
Why use Databases?
A database aggregates multiple sources of information in one interface. In a database, you can search keyword, title, author, subject, and more. Check the synopsis of the database to determine if it relevant to your topic. Click on the help function in the database for explanations. The databases are arranged in alphabetical and subject order on the library website.
Why use Articles?
Use Articles to do a simple and quick search for your topic across a group of databases. There are recommended databases for broad subject areas and this is useful when you are not sure which specific databases are relevant for your topic. By typing some keywords, you can view the results from each database and click on the relevant ones to check for full text.
Once you have determined which databases are more relevant and you need a more focused search, search the specific database to make use of features like search controlled terms or limit to scholarly journals.
Why use e-Journals
An electronic journal can be read online 24x7 at your convenience. The e-Journals website lists publications where the full text articles are accessible by SMU faculty, students and staff. Search for the journal title you want and if we have access there will be at least one hyperlink to access the journal and the full text articles. For off campus access, enter your SMU login ID & password when prompted.
Why use InK?
The intellectual works created by SMU are consolidated in InK - Institutional Knowledge at SMU. It serves as a channel to actively disseminate the research work by SMU. InK holds several collections covering works of research and teaching, and will be expanded over time to include collections covering patents, datasets, selected student works and institutional records. The research collection primarily includes journal articles, working papers, conference papers, books and book chapters created by SMU, including its Centres and Institutes. An initial Teaching collection and Dissertation and Theses collection are also available.
Accessibility of e-Resources
Due to licensing agreements, many library e-resources are for the use of SMU faculty, students and staff only. All e-resources should be used for academic and personal applications only. No information may be assessed for a corporation, for profit or for a third party. Users are also expected to appropriately acknowledge all materials used.
