Overview
The following members of the Singapore Management University are entitled to free library membership.
- Students enrolled at SMU
- Research staff/Teaching assistants
- Full-time, part-time and visiting faculty
- Full-time non-academic staff
- Members of the SMU Executive Committee

Free library membership is also extended to the spouse/partner of SMU full-time faculty and libraries that have reciprocal agreement with the Li Ka Shing Library. Please refer to Loan Privileges for more details.
Alumni (GOLD)
Alumni members on the SMUAA GOLD membership plan are eligible to use the library facilities. For more information on the borrowing privileges and library services available to SMUAA GOLD members, please refer to the alumni webpage.
External Memberships
Other types of external memberships offered by the library include:
- Commercial/industrial firms and government departments operating in Singapore are eligible to apply for library corporate membership.
- The membership fee is S$700 per annum (exclusive of 7% GST and a one-time S$30 administration fee).
- For verification and administrative purposes, the application has to be supported by the Human Resource Department of the respective organization and made using the Corporate Membership Application Form provided.
- The corporate library card will be issued under the name of the organization.
- The card is necessary for entry into the library and will admit a maximum of three employees from the organization at each visit.
- Library membership cards are not transferable and loss of cards must be reported immediately.

- Anyone pursuing an academic programme (including Distance Learning) is not eligible to apply for the personal membership.
- Only researchers and scholars who are not associated with any degree or academic programme are eligible to apply.
- The membership fee is S$300 per annum (exclusive of 7% GST and a one-time S$30 administration fee).
- All applications are to be made using the Personal Membership Application Form provided.
- The successful applicant will be issued ONE card which is not transferable and is necessary for entry into the library. Loss of cards must be reported immediately to the library.

Access-only Membership (3 months)
- Anyone pursuing an academic programme (including Distance Learning) is not eligible to apply for the access-only membership.
- Only researchers and scholars who are not associated with any degree or academic programme are eligible to apply.
- The membership fee is S$100 for three months (exclusive of 7% GST and a one-time S$30 administration fee).
- All applications are to be made using the Access-Only Membership Application Form provided.
- The successful applicant will be issued ONE card which is not transferable and is necessary for entry into the library. Loss of cards must be reported immediately to the library.
