Welcome to the Li Ka Shing Library webpage for SMU Alumni.
The library services offered to alumni are listed below. For more details on alumni membership, please visit the SMU Alumni Association (SMUAA) website.


Walk-in Access

All SMU alumni have walk-in access to the Library. Only SMUAA Membership with Library Add-on members have borrowing privileges and access to selected databases.

For SMUAA Membership members, please tap your membership card to enter the Library. Non-SMUAA members are requested to register at the Library Security Desk.

Copying and Printing Facilities

Photocopying and printing facilities are available at a fee within the library premises. Payment is by EZlink and Cash Cards. All photocopying and printing must comply with the provisions of the Copyright Act.


Loan Privileges and Fines

- How many? Total loan entitlement for SMUAA Membership with Library Add-on members is 6 items.
- How long? Different item types have different loan periods.
- How much? Fines are instituted to encourage the prompt return of library items for the convenience of all our users.

Use online access to My Library Account to:
- view / renew your borrowed items
- view / cancel your requests (holds)
- view your reading history


Course Reserves

- Books in Course Reserves (CR) are recommended course textbooks and are located in the Course Reserves Section on Level 2.
- SMUAA Membership with Library Add-on members can only borrow 1 CR item at a time, on-site, and only for 2 hours.
- CR items can only be borrowed at the Customer Service Centre.
- Overdue fine for CR is S$1.00/hr.
- No reservations or renewal of CR item.


Access to Electronic Resources

On-site Access to Electronic Resources
As SMUAA Membership with Library Add-on members, you can access selected subscription databases while on-site. For a description of each database and information guides on the databases, please refer to the Databases webpage. Off-campus access (except for Business Source Alumni Edition database) is restricted to SMU students, faculty and staff due to the licensing agreements of the database vendors.

Off-campus access to Business Source Alumni Edition Database
You can access Business Source Alumni Edition database off-campus. This database is used by the business community to keep current with the latest trends in areas pertaining to management and related fields. It provides access to more than 1,360 full text business magazines and journals, of which 590 are peer-reviewed, and the publications cover nearly every area of business including marketing, management, accounting, finance, econometrics, economics, and more.
