Services to SMU Staff

 

 

SMU staff are entitled to the following library services. Details on staff borrowing privileges are available at Loan Privileges.

Research Consultation

If you are working on a project and need research asssistance, you may schedule an appointment with a librarian who specialises in the subject field. Email your questions to the library or submit them via Ask The Library. The Research Consultation Room is located on level 3 in the library, next to the Information Services Centre.

Walk-in/Email/Phone Reference

If you have questions about your loan or general enquiries such as locating materials in the library, please either

  • Approach our library staff on duty at the desks
  • Email us your questions
  • Submit your questions via Ask The Library

One-Stop Services

The One-Stop Form provides a single interface where you can submit your requests to the library for any of following services:

  • Document/Material Delivery Service for research
    The library provides free document/material delivery service to SMU staff that requires certain articles, books, working papers, dissertations, and so on for research purpose.

    You may place a request to borrow book(s) not owned by the library. The library will seek to borrow the book(s) for you from an external source. You will be responsible for the items borrowed and overdue fines incurred if any.

    The library explores a variety of means to obtain copies of articles or book chapters not found in the Li Ka Shing Library collection which are needed for your research. Please provide as much details as possible about the source of information.

    Singapore copyright restrictions apply to document delivery use or distribution by SMU staff.

  • New Materials Recommendation
    You can recommend new materials to the library to consider adding to the collection.

Online Access to Your Library Account

My Library Account Enquiry How to allows you to access your borrowing record online and to view the library items you have borrowed and reserved. You may also renew items borrowed online via this service.

Library Orientation

Library will conduct guided tours of its premises and orientation for SMU staff in small groups upon request.
