Synopsis

2016, that eventful year in the almanac when we remember Trump being elected as the US President and the buzz about fake news! Fast forward today, a lot has happened around fake news, online falsehoods, and misinformation on social media and our daily lives.

Has social media polarised us? Is truth the new currency? Who is responsible? Where do they stand? And what are they doing about it?

Panel 1: Fact, Falsehoods and Free Speech
Panellists will discuss issues such as what a falsehood is, the relationship between falsehoods and free speech and the role of the education sector in fighting fake news.
