LibConnect September 2014

From the Desk of Gulcin Cribb
University Librarian

A warm welcome to both old and new students and faculty for the 2014 Academic Year.

Your SMU Library is more than books and services, it is all about working with you as your partners in learning, research, discovery, and access to just-in-time information and to help you succeed.

SMU Libraries offer a wide range of innovative services and resources, both physical and virtual. You are able to access most of the library resources from wherever you are and whenever you wish. Our staff are highly skilled professionals, passionate, friendly and experienced.

The Library spaces and facilities are currently in the process of being enhanced to provide a Learning Commons which will be open 24/7 all year around as well as many other new and different spaces, such as the new Lounge with exciting collections for a bit of light reading or viewing.

I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the near future. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of our wonderful team if you want to have a conversation about the library and information services.

We want your data!

Tint is the new Research Data Services Librarian and is keen to work with faculty who have produced data associated with publications. Faculty are invited to deposit their data in InK for safekeeping, sharing or to comply with the data availability policy of journals or funders. For data which has the potential for re-use by other researchers but are not shareable due to copyright or other reasons, Tint can create descriptions of your datasets. Contact Tint to deposit your data.

Tint has updated the guide for Research Data Sources and you can find the datasets that the Library subscribes to with a current list of data subscribed or purchased by the various schools, centres and institutes in SMU.

"Love the new Library!

Love #1 Fan"
