Get It For Me

At SMU Libraries, you can obtain resources that are not available in the collection by:

  • requesting for interlibrary loan (ILL) or
  • recommending new resources for purchase considerations

Interlibrary loan (ILL)

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service that obtains books, book chapters, journal articles and other resources for university-related research and teaching that are not available in the SMU Libraries collection.

How to submit a request?

There are two ways to submit a request.

Option One

  • Click on the “Get it for me” button via the Library homepage and submit a completed form.

Tip: To prevent unnecessary waiting, verify that the item is available in the library’s collection by searching for it using the search box on the library homepage.

Option Two

Step Overview:

  • Use the search box on the library homepage to find the item.
  • If you do not find what you are looking for, select the ‘Search beyond your library’s collection’.
