Art Takes Over Li Ka Shing Library with a photography exhibition by students

SMU Libraries are pleased to present the second edition of Annotations, a photography exhibition by 10 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Last year, the students were selected through an open call to participate in a month-long ‘Digital Photography: Visual Diary’ workshop conducted by Objectifs Centre for Photography & Film. Throughout December, they learned the art of visual storytelling and created a photo narrative project.

Together, their narratives weave a rich tapestry of stories, observations, and perspectives that range from expressing the thrill and pain of womanhood, and finding beauty in decay, to observing the lives of strangers on the streets, and documenting the bond shared between pets and their humans at a veterinary clinic. Like notations in the margins, these photo projects reveal an exchange within and between ourselves and our surroundings.

The exhibition is on view till 27 February 2022 and features the photo projects of AJAYKERALA (Lee Kong Chian School of Business, 2021), Andrea Vincent (School of Social Sciences, 2019), Asha Balamurali (School of Social Sciences, 2021), Ma Xuechen (School of Accountancy, 2021), Paul Ma (School of Computing and Information Systems, 2021), Radhe Venkatesan (School of Computing and Information Systems, 2021), Soh Ze Yu (School of Computing and Information Systems, 2018), Tan Hui Yi (School of Social Sciences, 2020), Theodora Ng (Yong Pung How School of Law & School of Social Sciences, 2017), and Yelin Yu (Lee Kong Chian School of Business, 2021).
