Vietnam Colours showcases a selection of children’s book illustrations from Vietnam that were part of the Asian Festival of Children’s Content 2023. The illustrations featured here draw inspiration from the rich social worlds, cultural traditions and natural heritage of the country, from fantastical folktales and quotidian daily life to indigenous wildlife and vibrant cityscapes. Come explore with reawakened child-like wonder the precious stories and delightful imageries by illustrators from our Southeast Asian neighbour. This exhibition is enriched by personal anecdotes from members of our student group, Chao Vietnam. The exhibition also shares opportunities for overseas immersion, internship and exploration in Southeast Asia and beyond. These are offered by Singapore Management University’s Centre for Global Education and Opportunities and Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre.
This exhibition is held in partnership with the Singapore Book Council. The prints on display are a selection from the Country of Focus (COF) Vietnam showcase, from the 2023 Book Illustrators Gallery, first shown at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC), organised by the Singapore Book Council. The COF Vietnam showcase was curated with the assistance of Vietnamese picture book author and translator, Pham Thi Hoai Anh. The AFCC is the leading festival in Asia for children and young adult (YA) books and stories.
