Dear SMU Community,
It gives me great pleasure to announce the formation of our Library Advisory Committee (LIBRAC). LIBRAC will advise the Library on its support of the teaching, learning, research and community-building needs of the University. LIBRAC will also serve as a forum for discussing SMU community’s library and information needs and expectations.
During their two-year tenure, the committee will:
- Represent the views of the Library’s stakeholders on library and information services
- Deliberate and advise on the direction and development of policies for library and information services to ensure the best possible support is provided
- Recommend new collections and promote contributions to InK Institutional Knowledge at SMU by SMU community for the dissemination and preservation of SMU’s intellectual and institutional knowledge
- Support the Library’s efforts in ensuring financial accountability and responsibility in the provision of library collections
- Propose and champion opportunities in bringing together SMU community in the Library to advance knowledge and information sharing
- Share insights on the internal and external environment affecting the Library
- Promote the Library to the internal and external community
- Report to the Provost on significant matters
- Consider and advise on such matters referred by the President, Provost or the University Librarian
