Request Item

Recommend new resources  to the library for purchase considerations. Please provide as many details as possible about the resource / title (book, journal, electronic resource, DVD etc.), such as author's name, year of publication, publisher's name and the ISBN if available, to this email.

 

The Library offers an Interlibrary Loan (for books)  and Document Delivery service (for journal articles and book chapters) for resources it does not hold.

Faculty, Postgraduate students and SMU Admin personnel may email your request to the library.

Undergraduate and Honours students may contact our research librarians via email or approach the Desk at Level 2 of the library, to discuss your research needs.

Eligibility

The resource requested has to be for the purpose of research and teaching only for active SMU staff and students.

Copyright

Use of Interlibrary loan books as well as articles obtained via document delivery are subject to the statutory copyright regulations and copyright limits must be observed.

The books and documents requested must be for the purpose of personal research or study only and is not permitted for use for any other purpose. How items are delivered

Books on interlibrary loans:
Requestors will be notified via email when the books are ready for collection. The loan period for the books is between 14 – 21 days and is determined by the lending library's policy.

Journal articles & Chapters
Documents will be scanned and sent to requestor as a pdf document, via email.

Request obtained internationally 3 – 8 weeks
 
Document Delivery (DDS) Turnaround Time
Request obtained locally 3 – 7 working days
Request obtained internationally 1 – 3 weeks
Obscure articles or chapter requests 1 month or more
