Accessing financial data with Python or R

By Lim Hwee Ming, Research Librarian, Accounting & Business

Looking for financial data and want to access it directly via Python or R?

Consider using WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services)  platform which not only includes a host of financial data from various vendors including S&P, Thomson Reuters/Refintiv, CRSP,  and more but also allows you to query for and pull data directly using Python and R.

In February, the Research Librarian, Accounting & Finance, gave a brief introduction to accessing WRDS data via Python/Juypter Notebooks in a bite-size workshop.

Using the WRDS API, you can pull in data and mix and merge the data from various sources such as Datastream, Compustat, IBES and more.
