In line with our continued commitment to supporting SMU authors in publishing open access, SMU Libraries have been actively engaging with a range of publishers to establish sustainable open access initiatives. Building upon our previously announced agreements with Cambridge University Press and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), we are pleased to announce that, commencing in 2026, SMU has entered into a new open access publishing agreement with Wiley. This agreement aims to assist SMU authors by covering their Article Processing Charges (APCs).
Details of the Agreement
Under this agreement, the full cost of open access publishing will be covered for eligible SMU corresponding authors. For articles accepted in Wiley hybrid journals between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2028, authors may choose to publish their work open access at no cost.
Note: The number of APCs available under this agreement is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, determined by the date of acceptance.
Please refer to the step-by-step guide on how to make your article open access in a Wiley hybrid journal.
Do note that SMU Libraries also provide APC support for publications that are accepted in a journal that is ranked A or A* in the publication outlet lists published by the Office of the Provost (in consultation with schools). See this for more details.
