A recent tripartite collaboration with the 15th Student Council of Discipline (SCD), SMU Libraries and Centre for English Communication (CEC) resulted in a poster design competition around the theme of plagiarism. There was a natural synergy amongst all parties as advocates of academic integrity on campus.
The SCD upholds SMU’s CIRCLE value of Integrity. SMU Librarians offer students research consultations for citation help, having developed an elearn resource on Avoiding Plagiarism through the APA Citation Style. For CEC’s Programme in Writing and Reasoning (PWR) students completed a series of problem sets one of which was around plagiarism as part of their problem-based learning.
There were 35 entries of which 12 were from first year students. The judges decided to award prizes to the following top five submissions by: Lynn Koh Rui Xia (SIS), Joey Lee (SOSS), Cheryl Chiam (SIS), Serena Ng Geok Wei (SOE) and Yeo Hwee Sim (SOA). Prizes sponsored by Three Learning were awarded at a recent reception.
You can view the posters on display at Li Ka Shing Library Learning Commons until 26 March 2018.
